In hanoi at present,
had a chilled out few days in the port town hoi an which was beautiful, there was loads of taylor shops where they can produce any item of clothing from magazines and catalogues and they make it all in 1 day! while we were here it was a full moon and they celebrate this by lighting lanterns and sailing them down the river, so the river was all lit up with hundreds of candels, the weather was lovely in hoi an got some sunbathing in as our hotel had a pool , lol probably the nicest place ive stayed so far, from there we went to Hue the bus drive there went through the mountains so the views and scenery were amazing, the photo on this post is the view when we were traveling, in Hue we went out on motor bikes for the day- well that was an experience and a half as i hav probably mentioned before the roads/traffic everything is just crazy their are no rules so im on the back of this locals bike going through rice paddy fields then onto extremely narrow country roads then a heard of water buffalo just walk out on the path at this point a thought he would stop- no! We were weaving in and out of these huge buffalo basically just shut my eyes. As if that wasnt traumatic enough we then drove over a snake and the guy says " its only a small python your ok" lol! It was so much fun though. After that we went to see some temples, we also saw were the monk burnt himself alive in protest there was pictures of this and his car that he was beside when he done that the guide told us that he did not move at all whilst on fire he was so deeply meditating.
We stoped for a night in Halong Bay and took a boat trip through the thousands of islands we got to visit a cave on 1 of the islands which was huge inside very beautiful. The food wasnt upto much here firstly we had a lunch on the boat(junk) and they served us seafood which was ok , wasnt quite sure what i was eating then they brought out chips so everyone was delighted by this only to find out the had put sugar all over the chips!! so that night i thought id play it safe and order a sandwhich they even got that wrong so we all went to supermarket and bought chocolate, thank god for m&m's!
Thats brings me to Hanoi where i am just now, its sooo busy here roads- again are just chaos theres an actual skill to crossing these roads, basically dont look and definetly do not stop after u hav left the road side, the bikes sort of make lanes around you, thats all there is here motor bikes, mopeds and bikes which seem to have the contents of an entire house tided to them so its like dicing with death crossing roads lol, but kinda getting used to it, well thats my time in Vietnam nearly over fly to Laos tomorrow, and some of the other group members finnish here so sad to be leaving them going out tonight for leaving dinner/drinks.
photos coming soon :p xx
