hi everyone!! am back!! has been so difficult to get wifi in the areas i have been, so after i left vietnam we travelled to Laos which now is by far the best place i have been, firstly we went to Vientiane the capital of laos we visited markets were they had fake everything but looked so real, then a few of the girls and i went for massage, it was.... interesting , had a small woman use me like a climbing frame and crack nearly every bone in my back, fingers and toes left feeling like a bit of rubber.
So after Vientiane we went to Vang Vieng, this is a total party town, full of backpackers. Here we done 'tubbing' which was really fun, its beside a river and there are bars all down the river to get to each bar you have to swim across , the current is quite fast so when you get close to a bar they through out ropes so you can catch them and they pull you in, then once you have your breath back a guy comes over and pours whiskey down your neck - and that is just to get into the riverside bar its crazy! so at the bars there is water fights/paint fights diving boards( more like wooden ledges so you can jump into the river) . We also went to caves and at the bottom of the caves were lagoons where all the locals go, so theres a tree that u can jump from at certain points upto about 20 feet, i only done the smallest one its scary enough tring to even climb up the tree never mind jump!
While we were in Lao it was their new year which they celebrate for 3 days , they celebrate it by having massive water fights in the street and after they have drenched u in water the put powder on your face and sometimes paint, so for 3 days i was soaked and coverd in paint even when we went out for dinner they would soak us was really fun but glad it was only 3 days as i would of had no clothes left if it last longer as everything is covered in paint/powder or wet!
When we were in lao we tried some local food which was amazing, they eat lots of buffalo so I tried a buffalo burger and its probably the best burger I have tasted!
We left laos to head to Thailand border along the Mekong river this took us 2 days so each day we would get up at sunrise and be on the boat untill sun set, the scenery along the river was breathtaking, although on the boat we had to cover up to shoulders and below knees as the boat was someones house so as a sign of respect we covered up. This would of been ok if the boat had air/con but it didnt so we were in 35 degree heat and not even able to sunbathe or stay cool so everyone on the boat was almost melting.
Crossed the border to thailand and stayed over night in a small town when i say small it had 1 shop and 1 bar , the town only got electricity 1 year ago so was very remote basically in the middle of a jungle on a little hill. From there we travelled to Chaing mai which is north Thailand, really want to go back there as there is so much to do, we were only there for 2 days but could easily stay for longer, I went to see Thai kick boxing which was amazing, so every1 put on bets needless to say I lost most of them.
So after Chaing mai we went on overnight train back to bangkok, and thats the end of my first tour! Had the best time ever and met some really great people who i will meet up with along the way! Next tour was the islands so will post about that when i have the photos on!
