hi everyone,
Thats me arrived in Sydney, flight over was great only 8 hours and i ended up getting a whole row to myself, arrived in sydney about 8am, beautiful blue skies sun shining, temperture wasnt hot but was still a lovely day. So in sydney i am staying with family friends, in the north of syndey called freshwater, this place is famous for its beaches and surfing.
It felt very strange at first being somewhere normal and staying in a house. It was almost like i had been running on this constant crazy tredmill for 10 weeks and it had suddenly stoped.
Had mince and potato for the first time which was so good!! I didnt even think i liked it that much back home but tasting normal food was great.
My first week in sydney was great, I went into the city and went on the open top bus, went to Australian museum which i really enjoyed as they have a big section on minerals/ stones so it was full of glittering rocks which is right up my street, it also had a section of 'jade' stone which made me happy :p!
I also went to Darling Harbour, it is beautiful and so much todo, i went to the chinese gardens of friendship, ( had a connection with asia so i felt as though i should go) lol, which was a beautiful garden with all chinese plants, and water in the middle of the city was stunning.
So later on that day there was talk of a 'storm' coming so decided to head for the boat to take me over to Manly near where im staying. As i was walking to Circular Quay the heavens opened, finally got on the boat and was a very chopping ride home- luckly i have had plenty of practise on choppy boats been in thailand and island hopping.
The next few days it was very stormy weather, rained constantly! Felt like home actually. One of the days i took a walk down to the beach to see the waves and they were huge about 10ft! there was weather station presenters doing there report here, and was on the news that surfers had went out in that (mental cases) was unbelievable, so i sat and watched them for ages was almost hypnotic watching the waves coming in.
I decided it would be wise to go and get some warmer clothes as i didnt have many even my cardigans were too light and the flip flops didnt really give my feet adequate heat lol, so i went to the cheapest shop i could find to get some clothes shoes, even here it was expensive - was starting to miss haggeling for eveything to get the prie down!
A couple of days later after a few long walks- feet were ripped to shreads ( stupid cheap shoes) so gave up and the gd old fake havianas were back were they belong at the bottom of my legs !
So the next day it was dry i decided to go a walk, its one recomended in the guide book. From Spit bridge into Manly, so got my old trainers i had used to trek in malaysia, and off i went was about 10k, some of the views were absolutley breath taking, the walk went right along the coast, you could see the ferries coming and going to the city, then some parts of the walk took you into bush and it was like desert. Met some canadian girls on the walk so had company for most of it, not that i wasnt gratefull but i had spent 1 hour downloading new albums and creating a playlist specifically for this walk! So the next day i got up early and done it again this time solo just me and my ipod so playlist 'jades manly walk' did not go to waste ha.
When i got back from this walk i was is soo much pain... as my heels had blisters on them from
Cheap shoes , and dnt think 2 big walks in 2 days helped the matter so i basically shuffled the last 20 minutes of the walk, its safe to say i havnt worn a proper shoe since buying them cheap things as everything is too painfull, so come rain or shine i look as if im going to the beach.
That weekend i ended up meeting up with someone from back home that used to drink in the pub i worked in and was now staying at the bottom of the road from me- small world!!! So went out that weekend in manly which was so much fun.
Sunday came and i started getting a headache and then what looked like an eye infection, so i put it down to having a wild weekend, but on tuesady it was getting worse so got drops from pharmacy, still no improvement so had to go to a&e as headaches were unbearable , a&e sent me into the city to go to the eye hospital so i started to panic as it was begining to sound quite serious- then they said i might even get kept in overnight.
So went into city by this point a couldnt see out of my eye and my head felt like someone was hittin it with a sledge hammer, so ended up 5 different doctors and specialists looking at my eye - apparently they hadnt seen an infection as bad as there was an ulcer on my cornea ( which is not good) so by this point i was really starting to worry- they were questioning if i would get my vission back, i ended up staying in hospital for 5 days - thankfully im now doing better and eye is getting there.
The staff in hospital were all lovely and i had my own big room which was great, only down side was the food, and the woman serving it, in the 5 days she forgot at least 1 thing daily so there was always something missing on my tray- i started playin a wee game trying to guess what it would be , yes i was that bored!
On my last day there i was really hungry and she hadnt took my order so i ended up with a salad without lettuce!! And no bread ( that was her missing item) and then she actually gave me a cup of hot water - minus the bloody tea bag! So was that desperate i ended up dipping a dairy milk fruit and nut into my cup of hot water - and for those that know i never eat nuts !!! Its like a mild alergy well... Maby a severe dislike so licked the chocolate off around the fruit bits n nuts and left them
In a pile beside my hot water , its safe to say she was not ammused when she cleared my tray. If only she could prepare a tray right!!!
So out of hospital, still not feeling great, consultant said it would take 3 months for my vission to totaly come back, and i need further checkups with specialists , so have been told to come home for a few months untill i am all better ,
Really disappointed and gutted but as the doctor said my eye sight is the main priority and australia will still be here in a few months.
Hopefuly will come back in september and continue with my world domination :D but for now its not good bye , al c u later xxxx
