Katiana and Ooo met us at the airport with beautiful flower rings, which is a Thai tradition. We arrived to the Gap Medics house around 3:30pm and were assigned our cottages (yay cottage 3!). Once we got settled in, I showered and wanted to blow dry my hair. However, I learned the hard way that the voltage in Thailand is different. Therefore, when I went to turn on my blow dryer, it blew up. Like fire and everything. But I threw it on the floor and managed to get the fire out without anyone knowing!
That night we went to the city to have supper. We travel via songthaew, which is a pickup truck but in the bed of the truck it has seats and a shelter over head. Hard to explain, check out the pictures. Jimmy is our driver and he is the best. He was playing tunes on the ride. A lot of Bieber and middle school throwbacks.
The restaurant was absolutely beautiful! I really struggled ordering my food due to the language barrier but I ended up getting noodles with shrimp balls (I think). Not the best, but it wasnt too bad. I did get a watermelon strawberry smoothie because Ooo told us smoothies are a big deal around here. There is an abudance of fresh fruit here! There are stands all over selling watermelon, pineapple, melons, rambutan, mangosteen, and durian. I actually tried all of these, be proud of me guys.
Everything here is cheap due to the conversion from US dollars to Thai Baht. $1 is equal to 35 Baht! So you can get dinner at nice restraunts for around $5 US dollars!
After dinner, we walked around a night market. A couple stands were selling puppies! Like one day old live puppies! Almost brought one home but didnt think mom would be impressed. They were also selling colored live crawfish. They were pink and blue and green and yellow. I dont know if the locals painted them or what. Very bizarre.
