Today was our first full day in Thailand. We got to sleep in because all of us were jet legged from our crazy long flights. We went out to lunch with a doctor that will help us coordinate our placement. (Placement is where we go and who we job shadow.) I actually enjoyed my meal here. It was chicken with roasted garlic and rice. Nothing too fancy. There was a beautiful garden at the restaurant. (Make sure you check out pics)
The gap medics workers taught us a little of the Thai language. Not much, just greetings, please, thank you, numbers, etc. It is much more particular than English so it is pretty hard to learn. We also got a Thai cooking lesson from our in house chef. The dish she made actually was really easy to make. I may have to test my abilities when I'm back in the states.
That afternoon we went to the temple in Phitsanulok. By far one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. There were so many statues of Buddha, and there was one in particular that has been named the "most beautiful Buddha in all of Thailand." The temple architecture was so detailed and breathtaking. (The pics I posted don't even begin to do it justice) We got to go in during prayer but in order to do that, we had to have on acceptable clothing which meant adding a long skirt and scarf to my outfit.
