So I'm finally here! For all the years of planning and dreaming (mostly dreaming) everything has come to pass with minimal hangups. My flight into Atlanta was pretty uneventful. ATL was the zoo it normally is, but this time, I was going there, not flying out. Strangely enough, I walked the half mile from my terminal to the baggage claim area. I passed by someone looking at a sign saying "Baggage claim 3000 ft ->" she scoffed and waited for the tram as I tooled by, hands in pockets "traveling light". Just got to pick up the bag and head for the MARTA station.
Once at the North Springs MARTA station, I received a voicemail from Leigh (owner of the Hiker Hostel) saying that there are three others that should be there to be picked up. Just outside of the station, I notice John (Highway) who has been waiting there since 1:00 PM. Now that its 3:20 PM I find him in a sprawled out state resting on his pack. As I sprawl out on my pack in similiar fashion it finally hits me that I'm actually doing this. It was a nice feeling punctuated by the Jamaican MARTA agent who thinks we're crazy for wanting to disappear into the woods. "Jah be needing a gun to do dat, mahn...with like tree extra magazines". I hear my mothers words echoing in my head (sans Jamaican accent).
No guns here, no need brah. Leigh ran us into town for some real food, some microbrews, and I'm back here now finishing everything up.
Here's to making everyone jealous. Have a nice day at work tomorrow ladies and gentleman!
...I mean that in the nicest way possible. :-)
