Today's the day - our flat has finally completed - hurray!!!
We're so happy it's not been nice having to rely on family to sort things out for us especially poor Jamie who as usual has gone above and beyond to move our stuff - be lost without him!
So, we're going to celebrate with a night in a hotel in Times Square itself - just one night now, we don't want to get carried away ;) Then it's back to Airbnb fun!
So, we pack up and book the Broadway Times Square - reasonably priced at around £80 we say our goodbyes to our lovely new pals John & Julianna grabbing an Uber to town with our increasingly heavy luggage, check in and Matts snoozing - old man syndrome!
Jacq researches our next steps and around 5pm we head out to Times Square in search of the Ellen Stardust diner - a really famous spot with singing waiters who have come to New York in search of fame, hoping to get spotted. The queue is about 20 minutes but so worth it! The place is electric and the performers are quality - so Westend/Broadway each waiter/waitress taking a turn to sing some of the most famous Broadway hits from New York New York to Mamma Mia - it's fab!
As they sing they walk along the sofa backs right where we are sat so we have a great view. We order New York sirloin steaks which are divine and brownies & waffles to finish - it's no dearer than 3 courses at Pizza Express and the entertainment is first class - they've actually been voted the number 1 diner in the Tristate area. 14 waiters left last year having been cast on Broadway shows, so the turnovers high but it's the place to be if you're pursuing that kind of career, the tip bucket is divided and used solely for acting, dance or singing classes. We love the place and it's host is an ex Broadway star from Lion King and Mamma Mia - as camp as Christmas but great fun! Sam Bailey was here recently for breakfast and sang everyone a tune! (X-Factor winner).
We finish up and head back finding an exhibition of the Avengers - the actual costumes used in the original movie of each cast member from Fury to Iron Man are on display - yes, we're geeks but we love this shizzle - Jamie would be in heaven. They have all of them - Captain America, Thor, Agent Coleson, Black Widow, Loki - it's great and you get to play and interactive game to become an agent - yes, massive geeks! It's only $27 each though for the lot- not bad!
Wrecked it's an early night researching and booking our Airbnb for our last leg. We don't want it to end, thanks New York <3
