So after a week of staying at ao June Jeau beach with Moondance bungalows.. We are feeling fairly settled.. We are isolated here.. One taxi to town a day... Too expensive for a trip in.. Scootering is not on the cards due to the roads.. The only way we have seen the island is via the water.. To be precise, a double sea kayak. We hired one the other day, so that we could see the bays, and something different and do some snorkelling.. It was a long hot day, with intermittent splashes in the sea.. We first stopped at shark bay to try and see some black tipped reef sharks but no such luck. Next we stopped for a cold drink at where we could have stayed, aow leuk bungalows.. A nice beach.. Albeit a little crowded for our liking.. I went out snorkelling and it was very good there, very different to Moondance.. We walked in the sea at ours and you were in thick coral.. At aow leuk it was deep with layers of fish, spread out along a rock face. Milly was too scares to do much here as it was deep water. Then next onto where we had first come on this island.. Ao tanote.. It was absolutely packed!! So many people.. Not our thing at all but still nice.. We had a bite to eat at where we had planned to stay y one week ago, diamond bungalows.. After some more snorkelling it was time for the long haul home.. The whole day probably included a good 10 km of kayaking, which given the temperature we felt was a vey good effort!! On the way back when crossing bays and in deep water we kept scaring each other by talking about big fish or sharks .. Good fun in the end as we didn't get eaten or even find a dead body... :) a good day rounded to an end with a banana shake and some prawn tempura :)
