Apologies for the delay in writing this but I have been a bit busy enjoying myself.
Anyway my second week in Clearwater was just as good as the first and was once again quite eventful. Amelie was due to leave us on the Sunday so we all went out to Kelly's (a local bar) Saturday night. There was a band on and we all danced all night. Something happened to me that has never happened before, the bartender called me over to say that someone had bought me a drink. I looked around for what was sure to be a tall dark handsome stranger? Oh no, not for me, a short round man with what appeared to be a girlfriend? Anyway the drink was good, not sure what was in it but think it may have been whiskey. It was called a Washington Apple so thats one portion of fruit sorted for the day! We left and went back for a swim in the pool. I crawled into bed about 3 still wet and then got out again shortly after to go and cuddle the toilet!
The following evening after a very pleasant game of crazy golf there was a LOUD, ANNOYING AMERICAN ALERT back at the hostel. I had bought a bottle of vodka, a big one,and I was gonna need all of it to put up with this dude. Worse still he was booked in for a week!. Kevin provided the entertainment as ever by attempting to break open a coconut with his bare hands (numpty), he managed it though so well done to him! The Loud Annoying one was promptly ejected the next day for being loud and annoying and very inappropriate while I put my sun cream on. Gutted!!
We celebrated by drinking more vodka the following evening and catching frogs (I dont really know why)? Sylvia is apparently the frog whisperer and caught 6 I only managed 1. Kept us amused anyway!!
The next paragraph is probably gonna shock alot of you. I cooked for us all this week and more than that everyone ate it and no one died! Get me!! After dinner we took a walk along the beach at sunset and saw loads of dolphins in the really shallow water. There was a little girl in up to her knees and she was stroking them. I was dive bombed by a flying cockroach type thingy when we got back and for those of you who have seen how fast I can move with a spider in the room... I was fast!
On Thursday a guy asked me if I wanted to grab a beer as I was walking back to the hostel. I checked my diary and realised I didnt have any pressing engagements so we ducked into Kellys. His name was John and he was a coast guard. I got a little tiddly then whipped him at pool before making my merry way home!
Friday Adam and I walked back to Caladesi Island. It was there that I decided I really needed a goal for my year away. I settled on being able to walk more than 3 steps on my hands by the end of the year and set about practising! Its a hard life! We had a great day hanging about on the beach and when we got back Maria had cooked us all tea, bless her. This was when weird things seemed to happen to Maria!
Maria is nearly 70 and has been at the hostel longer than me, she is originally from Italy and has a very strong Italian accent. She goes to church 3 times a week and reads the bible everyday. It was therefore a bit of a shock when she asked if she could borrow Kevins BB gun so that she could shoot birds (they are evil apparently!). After she had waved the gun about in a very dangerous manner she took exception to the fact that Dan had taken a picture of her and held it to his head demanding he delete the picture. In the end we decided to disarm her before she had someones eye out. Luckily she didnt mind me taking a picture of her!
We went down to Kellys where Sweet Spot were playing. I had a great time as they basically played covers of the Chilli Peppers, Blink 182, Green Day and bizarly The Stray Cats amongst other bands.
On my last day I mainly hung around the hostel although Adam and I did go for a walk around the shops and then to the sunset party on the pier. It was really a perfect last night and we went back to Kelly's again to get another fix of Sweet Spot. When we got back Kevin and Adams new neighbour Yvonne was hammered on the balcony flirting outrageously with Kevin and Carter. Kevin (Special K) told me that I could not be replaced and then immediately replaced me with Yvonne, nice work Kevin.
I eventually went to bed at 4:15 and I needed to be up to catch my flight at 6am. Not the smartest move but I have had so much fun here I didnt want it to end.
Thanks Kevin, Adam, Sylvia and Amelia for making the first 2 weeks of my trip so great. I am going to miss you xx
