For all those people that were worried I wasnt going to eat properly, worry no more. Last night Adam volunteered to do a BBQ and Emily fixed up a pasta salad and we all ate like Kings. I threw away the packet of pretzils I was going to have for tea and tucked in (only joking mum, I was going to attempt Pork Chops)
Today I have been mostly canoeing. A few of us decided that we were going to canoe to Caladesi Island which is a nature reserve that is not in actual fact an Island. I was in a boat with Sylvia (from Alabama) and Kevin (a French Canadian who learnt all his English from Rap songs (the language!!)). It didnt look that far on the map, but needless to say it was!
The other canoe seemed to only want to go in a circle most of the time which was very frustrating. I know because I was in it on the way home. We followed a trail once we got on to the Island which Sylvia assured us was a short 10 minute walk. Perhaps 10 minutes is longer in Alabama coz it was much longer than that. Anyway the walk was beautiful in the forest and we saw some sort of big bird thing that looked like an owl, sorry dont know the proper name for it!
On the other side of the island there was a gorgeous beach where we all cooled off in the sea, even me! After about an hour it dawned on us that we had only pulled the canoes out of the water a little way and if the tide rose at all they probably wouldnt be there when we got back. Kevin almost broke into a jog at this point (his credit card was the deposit) but then thought better of it. The rest of us weren't that worried because you can walk back to the hostel from there anyway and no-one wanted to paddle the canoe that thought it was a shopping trolley!
Anyway they were there when we got back and I stupidy volunteered to go in the dodgy boat on the way home (wont do that again)!
Tired but really enjoyed the day!
