Jackie & Luke's Adventures
We are in Wimbledon already and we have already started working. We have only worked three days and already we have clocked up around 32 hours each. They work us like dogs. We knew it wasn't going to be anything fantastic and it really is living up to our expectations not exceeding them. We work split shifts most of the time and it makes it a really long day (my feet hurt). We were supposed to have breakfast and lunch supplied but thats only if breakfast consists of toast and coffee and most of the time all the hot meals for lunch are sold out so we get sandwiches (pathetic) but apparently it will be better when the head chef gets back from holidays at the moment the assistant chef is doing all the meals and from what I can tell he is not very good. The people here are nice, there are three other boys staying here there are Matt and Kent they are a couple and are the acting assistant managers as the manager was asked to leave a week before we got here, they are good and I get along well with them I think, there is Damian, he is a young Aussie guy who overspent whilst travelling and is working here to pay off his debts, I dont think he likes it much but good on him for taking responcibility. And us. Megan is the Assistant Manager but she does not live here, she seems nice enough, she is from Victoria and around the same age. There are several other staff, Charlie, Scott, Carolina, Teressa and Toddy (The windging cleaner). The pub itself is quant, but the cleanliness is not up to my standard and upstairs is crap. Our room has four walls and thats about the positive side of our room. Our room was filthy and all the draws in it were falling apart and the pillows were awful. So far we have bought a set of draws, a set top box, a portable clothes hanging rack and three photo frames, new sheeets, doona cover (they call them dovea's here - bloody poms) target or targea' whatever! and pillows just to try to make it comfortable - it sucks. Well we never said it would be easy, we will make it okay.
We haven't really done anything exciting mostly catching up with Luke's family (they were all very nice) and just living, London was okay but we didn't do much, we will leave that for our trips on our days off. London is definatley a city that never sleeps.
