Hola, we've ventured into Bolivia, loving it already..even with buses catching on fire in the middle of the night!!! We've discovered that patience is definately a virtue when using public transport!!! Spent only one night in the capital La Paz, cool city but we had to get on the road. Just finished a 3 day tour called the Salar de Uyuni where we saw some of the most remote and random landscapes we have ever seen!! The Salar is a huge salt flat it's ahuge expanse of flat white..it's like we were driving over a sea except it was hard...at times it felt as though we were flying through the clouds!!! Very weird but definatley amazing!! The climate was really harsh..our second night was -20 C my god we thought Iceland and Norway were bad...they were nothing!!! In the evenings, we just ate and had loads of hot drinks to try and stay warm!!!
Last night we arrived in Sucre, a really lovely city...white washed buildings and stunning churches scattered around the place...quite a contrast to the brown basic adobe houses (mud huts) that we have come used to!! We have decided to spend a month here, studying spanish and doing some voluntary work. School starts tomorrow, we both have the same teacher but one of us goes in the morning and the other in the afternoon..that way we can't cheat!! Once we've learnt to commnicate more effectively we can then start helping out at a local orphanage...so wish us luck!!
Adios
