Wow, time goes by so fast. Too fast Id say.
The last few days in Ballina we surfed with Ian and had some of the best surfs Ive ever had so far. My board's a beauty. I also went for a dive in Byron Bay. I got a headache right in the beginning of the dive that lasted all the way through, so it wasnt too pleasant. But we did see many wonderful creatures. Shovelnose sharks, leopard sharks, a big turtle, sting and eagle rays, nudiebranch (which a re very rare and hard to find!) and so many other fish and 'things' Ive never seen before. Julian Rocks marine park never let's you down I might even say.
Byron Bay looked weird. They ahd a huge high tide going on over there, because half of the beaches were under water, compared to what they were like last year. Ugh, and so so many tourists/backpackers. It was alright though.
Ian was so sweet to take me surfing every morning before he went to work. We also had some lunch by the beach. I reckon they were the best rolls Ive ever had! When everyone was at work, I was down the beaches surfing. And loving it ! Oooh, and for the first time I encountered a blue bottle up close. Those little stingers really sting bad. I was paddling out when suddenly I felt a painful stinging on my left arm. I looked at it and I had a blue bottle wrapped around my whole arm. I ripped it off, stinging my other hand by doing that, and went to ask the lifeguard what I should do. I went home and had a hot shower and the stinging stopped. I was going to put vinegar on it, but glad I didnt - Ian & the lifeguard said that it only makes the pain worse.
I had an easy afternoon then. I dropped down to Josh's place where he and two of his mates had a small party going on. I joined them for one beer (promoed heaps of finnish underground bands) and got some dinner from VivaPizza! Good stuff.
I picked up Ian and the next morning we left really early for Iluka. That's where Ian grew up. The ride down there was fun though Ian was a bit nervous of that.
We had a fun surf, walked down the beach and went to wish his dad happy birthday. We stayed for quite a while so we almost had to race back home, because Ian started work in the afternoon. We made it, easily.
In the evening we were supposed to celebrate Robbi's birthday, but we were a bit late for that so we headed to Byron Bay. The beachie was crowded, but we found a place to sit down and have a few drinks. We had some of the best kebab ever and just enjoyed the easy night. On the way back we stopped to look at the stars. Ive never seen anything so beautiful. We had a great spot.
I will continue..
