Hola!
Flores was great! Didnt want to leave that little island, i definitely want to go back. The hostel was the best we´ve been to so far. We took a nightbus with Eddie and Marie to Guatemala City. Of which i´ll tell you further more now..
We just arrived to San Jose, Costa Rica after spending two days in Antigua, Guatemala. It took around 9 hours to go from Flores to Guatemala City and another hour more to go to Antigua. It was a beautiful town and we checked in to Jungle Party Hostel, which was nice! Walked around the city center for a while and then took a nap, because the bustrip was horrible!! Air condition was on all the time plus the driver kept his window open all the time too. And guess who had the front row seats? Yup, we were freezing.
The first night in Antigua was us just chilling. We had something to eat and drink, got to know some of the other people staying at the hostel (Mark -Seattle, Lewis - NZ, Hugh -UK). We had a great time, but decided to go to bed early. I woke up in the middle of the night, finding myself running to the toilets. Obviously something I ate earlier wasnt too good. So i spent the night talking norwegian to the toilet bowl (as we say in Finland), which was not nice. The following day i literally slept all the time. And ate only two strawberries and a kiwi. I felt better, but missed the volcano hike and the local market etc..
This morning we got up early and went looking for the busstation in Antigua. We found it pretty fast and took the local "chicken bus" to Guatemala City and there on a taxi to the airport. The flight was fast and enjoyable and now after another chicken bus ride, were in San jose trying to find a hostel to stay in because our bus to tamarindo, paradise beach for surfers, leaves tomorrow. I think i want to take a taxi...
Hope everything is well in Finland! Love you,
Liisa & Silja
p.s the map is working correctly. It doesnt show guatemala city & Antigua.. oh well, they are in the south of Guatemala.
