Hola again,
i'll tell you more now about the country i most fell in love with until now ie. Costa Rica... WOW. The nature is beautiful, the people are kind and welcoming and it's just fantastic where ever you go! We took the bus from San Jose to Tamarindo. The day before we purchased the tickets before going to the hostel. It was quite funny though.. We didnt realise that we were in the coca-cola area, which is the most 'dangerous' zone there is in San Jose. Obviously we were there because the local busstation was right next to it. So we figured we might aswell go there straight away with all our stuff (even though every guidebook says its hard NOT to get robbed in the coca-cola zone) but were already there (unaware of it)so what the heck. And it was all good, thank god! The long distance buses left near by so we walked and bought the tickets, only 5e and then took a taxi to our hostel for a high price because we were too tired to fight for a lower price..
The hostel was pretty neat. We had a dorm almost to ourselves and then free internet and a pool! oh and the kitchen in our use aswell, where we made a nice little student dinner: noodles and sausages with ketchup on top! I couldnt eat it still but i was fun making it. Some cook was shaking his head while we were boiling the stuff. His loss for eating only high priced food, ours is cheap good food!
Anyway, we met nice people (again) at the hostel, but we went to bed early. In the morning we had some time to hang around by the pool before we took a taxi to the busstation. This time we bargained the price down. What was funny though.. when the taxi driver dropped us off we were at a different busstation so we walked. And by the time we got to the right busstation - where we bought the tickets the other day- we realised that we were going with the local "first class" bus, so i'd say second or third class in Finland..and once again the journey was just like it.
It was supposed to take about 5 hours, instead we sat in the bus for about 7 or 8 hours. The driver went through all the little towns by the route to drop off some stuff for local markets... And what was really odd about the buses, was that even though all the seats were taken, the driver took people on the bus until it was so full that people didnt fit in anymore. So most of the people were standing for maaany hours. It was a fun ride though. Some guy started staring at me and later on asked for my phone number no use. But finally in Tamarindo we found a hostel, Coral Reef, to stay in with Stan and Jack (two guys from the same bus) and then we had some dinner before getting to know the nightlife in this little town. The beach was beautiful in the evening and we saw a big crab too! After the beach we went to Pacifico bar to dance and we danced pretty well, i played some pool too. Somehow the beach just was drawing us back so we went there after getting a surfboard and a guitar. Then we just chilled, sang some funny songs and swam a little. It was great! I got to sleep at around five o'clock in the morning.. Oh yeah! In Pacifico a guy promised to give me surf lessons the next say starting from eight o'clock for just 10 dollars+ two hours of teaching finnish. Believe it or not, i actually went there at eight, i woke up at six and again at seven.. but then he wasnt there! I saw him later on though. Silja had too many cuba libres so she slept during the time i was at the beach. We rented a board when she got up and then at the beach i saw the guy again, just when i was getting in the water. He said "you lied! you werent here at eight!" arrgh, so stupid. But at that time it really didnt matter because i already got up on the surf board and catched maaany waves! So i saved 10 bucks and two hours of frustration.
We surfed for quite some time and got a really nice tan too. I hurt my thighs and upper stomach cos of the surfboard. It was a softtop, but still i got a terrible rash off of it.. Now its better though!
We got a flyer at the beach, promoting a restaurant called "lazy wave" so we decided to have dinner there. WOW! I must say, i've never had better food anywhere. It was perfect!! The restaurant itself was really beautiful, it was situated in a backyard, there were many trees, bushes and plants and the lights made them look really good. It was the only lounge bar in Tamarindo and of course the best. It was lovely to chill on the pillows and couches after a long day at the beach. I have to tell you more about the foodwe got. I had basil-tomato-parmesan salad as an appertiser and every mouthful of it was heaven.. My tastebuds were having a huge fiesta right then! wow. Then for the main course I had shrimp-chive-shell-spaguetti with a secret sause, WOW! It was SO good that even though I was full half way through the dish I just had to eat it all cos it was so good. I loved it! That is definitely a good reason to go back to Costa Rica and for those of you who have never been there, its a perfect reason to go for the first time! Its a shame we werent allowed to take pictures, i have one but i wanted to take ten..
After the dinner we went to meet an israeli, Or, in front of Pacifico. I met him when I was surfing and we agreed to meet later on in the evening. The bar was closed cos the party was in La Barra that evening, so we went there. We had a great time! I was dancing salsa and reggaeton for most of the time and people said I did good, even some locals came to ask me dance. It was crazy! I danced a lot with Ivan, from Tamarindo. He was really nice and actually it was really funny when we met him on the street earlier that night. He of course asked where we are from and we told him about Finland. Then he goes: OHHH!! Geeez! - we though he was thinking about the crazy distance, but then he said that his ex-girlfriend is from Finland. Then he started to say stuff in finnish: hyva poika! perkele! and so on. It was so funny. He gave me his necklace as a memory of Tamarindo and him. Its beautiful, you'll see it in the pictures later on. That night was perfect but a little shorter than the other night, we decided to leave to Samara the next morning to see Anna.
