Today we were up early for Special K and soda bread toast with Goat's Milk butter. We packed and caught a cool red double decker bus to the local train station. Which was closed.Which was a huge problem because we needed to be in Liverpool to catch the express train to Stansted Airport. So we ran to the nearby shopping center and found a legendary taxi driver who took it upon himelf to deliver us across town in the shortest possible time.
The striking tube drivers had caused chaos across London which meant the roads were packed and our cab driving champ had to negotiate backroads and roadworks and u-turns before delivering us at Liverpool station at 10.55 which sucked because or train was 10.40. We managed to get onto the 11.10 train to the airport which arrived at 11.55. That was also a problem because boarding for our flight to Germany closed at 11.50. But we thought we'd try our luck and sprinted through the airport (Dave sprinted, I lagged). We pushed to the front of the security check line and the front of the immigration line and had a final dash down to gate 49 where we found... that our flight had been delayed 20 minutes and everything was fine. Damn!
So we made our flight to Frankfurt Hahn, picked up our rental car which turned out to be a sweet VW Golf because Hertz messed up our booking. We fired up the GPS, stopped at Burger King for a whopper and then belted the 120 odd km to Dave's Uncle's house in a small town north west of Frankfurt (Anspach?)
We met Milo and Christina and had a nice dinner at the local Chinese Buffet before coming home for a chat and a walk round the park. Off to bed and ready for the Nurburgring tomorrow.
