The ibis hotel at CDG nord 2 has very very comfortable beds. I remember turning the light out but the next thing I recall is my alarm going off after the best night's sleep in a fortnight. The ibis breakfast bar was a bit meh but good enough to see me through.
After a nice shower I checked out and found my way to the right departure gate after again needing shuttle buses, terminal trains, information desks, moving walkways and a buttload of walking. I again asked for and was given a nice exit row seat by the kind finnair people. The flight to Helsinki was again short and sweet but again had very little transfer time.
Helsinki to Tokyo was uneventful for the first seven hours of the nine hour flight. After that, however, things got interesting.
In the darkened plane I saw a japanese grandma stumble out of the toilets looking a bit wobbly. She grabbed hold of the wall in front of me but basically passed out standing up and took a huge stack, smacking her head pretty hard on the emergency exit door on the way down. Me and my neighbour, a tall Russian dude, made our best effort to catch her but he had been asleep and I had my seat belt on so we only half got her.
A Japanese hostie came and tries to revive the passenger but she wasn't looking too good. The lights in our corner of the plane came on and people started crowding around. Eventually the lady started responding and was lain down on the floor in front of my feet with her legs up on the chair next to me.
She became progressively better throughout next couple of hours and made it back to her own seat for landing. The hostie had to fill out a heap of paperwork. We also had a nice chat with a steward who sat in front of us for landing.
At the airport I stupidly declared my chorizo and had it taken from me, but was smart enough not to mention all he other stuff on my case. Mihoko surprised me by collecting me fron the airport and saving me another bus and train battle with my broken suitcase.
THE END!
