First up after breakfast it was time to refill the gas bottles. We didn't want to run out of gas while camped at the mountain. It was probably not really necessary as we carry a spare bottle, but since our fridge runs on gas, better to be safe than sorry.
We next headed to the laundromat to get some last minute washing done. There was a family from Narangba there and we watched all the trucks heading to the marshalling area for the parade through Bathurst. I should have dug out the camera, we got a much better view from the laundromat than we did during the parade in the main street.
After the washing was done it was nearly time for the parade. We arrived in plenty of time but the parade seemed to be running very late. It meant we had a little more shopping time, and I bought myself a "been there, done that" T-shirt. I bought this particular shirt because it included the year of my birth, because the great race and I were both born the same year (1963). Brett was born that year too. This year is being treated as the 50th anniversary of the Bathurst race but actually we don't turn 50 for another year yet.
Of course once the parade started, the tallest man in Bathurst stepped in front of everybody to take photos. So I have included some pictures, but they are pretty crappy. It was interesting to see how many different kinds of trucks the teams have.
Next stop - Mount Panorama. We thought it might be a bit of a drama getting into our site, but it was actually a breeze. We set up camp and got down to some serious relaxing. Watching other people set up camp can be rather amusing. So can watching people drive hired motorhomes, especially when they forget that their motorhome is taller than a car and if they drive under something, sometimes the roof mounted air conditioner can end up on the ground.
Did I tell you how much I prefer travelling with these experienced guys who know a thing or too about stuff?
Tomorrow, the action starts.
