The day started with some time spent in Inverell. Brett found his favourite kind of parts shop and bought a new radiator cap for the little ute, as it was showing signs of needing replacement. Not serious signs, but we don't want to take risks out on the road.
We had to hang around waiting for the National Transport Museum to open at 10am. As We had all been been there before, it was expected to be a short visit, but of course Brett met a guy who liked cars and motorbikes, one of the volunteers at the museum. Consequently it was nearly midday before we left Inverell.
The National Transport Museum is well worth a visit. It doesn't contain a huge number of vehicles, but there are some examples of some quite rare beasts. There were three Bentleys, all the one model, and three Humber Super Snipes, but as Brett pointed out, no Leyland P76s. The exhibits are on loan and most include stories about the history of the vehicles.
We only had a short drive today, less than 200km. The scenery was mostly gentle rolling hills and valleys. Not as spectacular as the last two days. We were also driving through farming areas, although the roads did not carry much traffic.
Not as much wildlife was seen either.
Once we arrived at Manilla we settled into our site at the Rivergums Caravan Park. We paid for a powered site and got our washing done. I like this little caravan park, it has lots of birds that visit and stay including apostle birds and red-rumped parrots. These birds are common in the area but are not found where we live.
Steve wasn't feeling well so he stayed home while the rest of us walked into town for dinner. RSL Club Chinese food! I love country town Chinese food. We went the whole hog, our order included prawn chips, spring rolls, fried rice and then deep fried ice cream for dessert. Plus the meals of course!
