The Cinque Terre has not disappointed. What an incredible place. Started the day catching the train to Monterosso at the northern end of the 5 villages. This town has a big beach with crystal clear water. Tons of cafes and restaurants overlooking the sea then tucked back behind this frontage narrow streets with gorgeously painted houses. What a start. Walked the main trail from Monterosso to Vernazza. Was more challenging than I had expected. Very narrow a lot of the way and uneven surface. You climb quite high out of Monterosso then come down a whole lot of steps into Vernazza. Vernazza is stunning with small beach and rocky area. Really just like the pictures. Swam off the rocks and sunbathed for a couple of hours before walking the Vernazza to Cornelia leg. Less challenging taking us about an hour. Again lots of uneven steps but wider track and definitely not as busy. Cornelia was gorgeous. Tiny town perched above the sea with really narrow streets. Amazing freshly made lemon slushes. Very quaint and because of the 400 steps up from the train station much less touristy. Found a stunning bar for a local craft beer before catching the train back to Vernazza. Contemplating a sunset drink!!
