I left Sydney about a week and bit ago and when I left Sydney, met up with a few more people on the Oz experience bus, met 2 boys from near Essex called Nick and Luke, a couple called Gemma and John and 2 Swiss girls. I was still travelling with Phil, who I met travelling from Melbourne. We made our way to Surfers Camp, where we had some nice food and had to wake up nice and early the next day and go surfing! I was pretty rubbish, I was hardly on the board because the waves kept pushing me back, I managed to lie on my stomach a few times and stood up once, but fell off quite quickly too. From Surfers Camp we made our way to Byron Bay and stayed in a nice hostel. Between 6 of us we bought a football and a frisbee and went to play on the beach. We were in Byron Bay for 3 nights and only the first day we arrived and the day after we had nice weather, after that it rained for 2 days, which was nasty! We just messed around in the hostel. We kept going to a bar accross the road Cheeky Monkeys and had cheap good food there and a free bbq when you bought a drink. You got to dance on the tables later in this bar, I fell up the table the first night, not just because I'd had a few drinks though!
After Byron Bay we went to stay in Brisbane for the night before making our way to Hervery Bay. the 6 of us went for dinner on the main street and then went to a bar to to have a few drinks. We again had an early start to make our way to Hervey Bay. We stopped in Noosa and lay on the beach for a couple of hours, then went to Rainbow Beach and got some lunch. We arrived in Hervey Bay at about 5pm and had to get our bags ready for Fraser Island. We could only take a small bag, so we had to move things around. I stayed in a room with the 3 boys, it's strange staying with just boys, I take longer to get ready than them, not much longer, but they like to just go when they are ready. It's still fun being with them though and I'm glad I've got people to hang out with as well.
Fraser Island was good, I didn't really know what to expect. We had to wake up at 5.30am to be able to check out at 6 and go to a meeting for 7am. In the meeting we watched a dvd on the rules and regulations, then we had to leave a bond for the vehicles we would be driving. We made our way to the workshop where we picked up our 4x4s and all of our camping equipment. We then set off to the supermarkets to get our food for the camping and then made our way to the ferry.
When we arrived on the island, Nick drove, we had a Portuguese guy, a Dutch woman, a Danish couple and then the 3 boys and myself. We made our way to the camp, which was on the other side of the island. We lost the other 2 cars because the Danish boy needed the toilet and we told the other cars that we would find them, but we didn't. We set up camp and tried to cook our dinner although our cooker was crap and we had to borrow another groups heater. We also spent a long time making canopies for the tents, trying to tie them to the trees was a farce and wasn't really necessary because it didn't rain in the end, it was funny to watch the guys do it though. I will continue this another time as I have nearly run out of credit.
Hope to hear from you all soon, I'm back home in ljust under 2 weeks now, scary but cool.
Love to you all xxx
