Pouring with rain in Awarta. Early breakfast and intention to walk early did not affect the weather. It still howled and poured.
We made the decision to call a car to take us the next village for us to wait out the rain. The drive took us through a mountain covered with mist and the rain had died down we had to get out of car and take in the atmosphere. It was magical. Standing in the clouds on the path of Ibraham/Abraham, with a group of people who share the same heart and the same dreams for humanity.
We walked, we got wet and we walked through the mud we laughed. Wet and messy we arrived at the Canaanite site that would have been there at the time of Ibrahim/Abraham, Al Arma. The caves and the springs that fed the town.
The afternoon was bathed in a washed sunshine. The shepherd's leading their flocks were a reflection of the time of Ibrahim/Abraham reminding us of the simplicity of our journey. What a beautiful walk and Jayme's comment 'this is not what I expected' sums up the smiles in the group. We are here just to walk. Walk the path of Ibrahim/Abraham.
Last night we slept at Nahla and Abu Adam's home. (Our rating: 2 Trees). Nahla's story is that she is widow. She has three children. The two oldest are girls who have been through university because of the income generated through her involvement in the home stay network with the Masar Ibrahim.
Tonight we sleep in Habib's home (Our rating: 3 trees)
Men and women are sleeping in different homes. Married couples are separated too in keeping with the culture and the facilities.
