Right ive had a busy couple of days...this weekend we have been blessed with glorious weather, not a cloud in the sky and in the sun it feels like Spain in the summer!!
Yesterday morning we went for a walk around Palmy, we walked down to the Manawatu, along it for a bit and then across it and up to the observatory on top of a cliff overlooking the town, the views were fantastic, it really looked a nice place from up there, hahaha, we could see all the way to Mt Ruapehu, which is over 100miles away, can't believe how clear the air is down here.
After a short nap in the afternoon we had a chippy tea, much nicer than the ones back home...yummy..not quite in the zone but ah well.
We went across to a neighbours house for a quick beer before heading into town to watch the rugby, we found a decent irish pub which had a big screen so we set up camp in there, cold guinness and kilkenny..marvellous. After we had watched the All Blacks beat the Boks we went into the town centre to another of martin and janes favourite bars for another couple of pints...was feeling a bit pished..but hey it was saturday night.
This morning we had an early start again, headed out to Wanganui and the Whanganui National Park, the drive up there was fantastic, with snow capped peaks all around and great clear views of Mt Ruapehu and Mt Taranaki (the Mt Fuji lookalike. Was damn chilly this morning, but once we got walking and got out of the trees it was really warm again, didnt need your fleece or anything. It was a real leisurely walk up to a viewpoint overlooking a section of the old Whanganui riverbed, really were some stunning views.
Well thats all from me for the time being, not sure what im going to be getting up to over the next couple of days, we are off skiing on wednesday so will let you know next weekend how that went, injuries, skill level etc. Also got the Tri-Nations game on Saturday, after last nights result the whole competition has been blown wide open...so its going to be a cracker, cant wait!!
