Howdy all
Yesterday we had a monstrous drive from Franz Josef to Christchurch, which at one point looked like we were going to be spending a very cold night snowed in on a mountain pass. We were about 100k's from CC and all of a sudden we hit traffic....quite a rareity in NZ. It was snowing heavily and it turned out only one lane of the road was open, and it was blocked by trucks, so we had to wait for an hour for them to tow the trucks up the hill and out of the way of the rest of the traffic. Considering what could have happened I think we were lucky to get away with only waiting an hour. In the end it took 6 and a half hours for the drive...but it was the final time in 'Delores', before she went back to the rental company.
Today me and Mads went out to Lyttleton, the harbour near CC, and walked up to the hills surrounding the city, the views were amazing, but stupidly we didnt take a camera. Ah well.
Well thats all for now, having another day in CC tomorrow, then off again, probably to Methven and more skiing.
Ta ta for now!
