hello y'all
Where to begin about the last couple of days, crazy stuff and the weather is getting better but the australians are still complaining that its cold! Met all the other people in the hostel(apart from the people in my room who arrive tonight). It's a pretty good mix there is loads of americans, a kiwi, loads of aussies, a welshy and an english guy. On the first night two of the american guys took me out to a really cool bar in Palermo(15 minute cab ride for 2 quid!) where we bought a pitcher of beer for 35 paesos which is about 6 pounds. On the first morning took the subterraneo into the centre of town which was a bit like an older version of the glasgow underground. The centre of town is really cool, a bit like madrid/milan. Came out the subway and heard some pretty loud drums/fireworks...turned the corner and outside the home office there was a pretty big protest about the falklands/las malvinas being argentine...felt a bit uncomfortable to be honest but all was fine. Then managed to find a free museum(it should have cost 10 paesos but there was nobody to collect the money so just walked in) which was pretty cool but all the info was only in spanish...but the stuff looked cool. That night everyone from the student flat went out to this american bar called El Alamo and got mindlessly drunk which was a good start, on the way home(6:30am...things are open late here, walking in the wrong direction didnt really help) and at 7 we enjoyed a Porteno(buenos aires people) tradition...breakfast before you go home after a night out, so me and Steve and Tom(two americans from the apartments) had raviolli and two pizzas and arrived back at the residence at half seven. Yesterday we had a big asado(barbeque) on the roof terrace which was pretty cool then most of us went out to the this bar/club next to recoleta cemetary which, many tequilas and an australian falling on her face later, resulted in walking home at a horrifically early/late time, and in the wrong direction once again for a while. Today has been a bit of a right off but went for lunch and food shopping. Looking forward to the start of my program tomorrow, so a quiet night to night. The adventure goes on...
