The last few days we've travelled from lawn hill, through camooweal to barkley homestead. We crossed into the northern territory just after camooweal and it's been getting warmer and warmer. We've had fantastic weather, but you can definately notice the warmer it gets the more bugs there are.
Barkley homestead was literally in the middle of nowhere, lovely place to stop when all you can see is open grassland.
We then travelled from there to threeways on the stuart highway and to tennant creek. We were thinking of staying at tennant creek but once we got there we decided to just stock up on food and keep driving! Not somewhere I wanna stop at again that's for sure!
We instead stopped at banka banka station. Old cattle station on the highway with a natural spring. We had the best shower, filled the water tanks with the fresh water and washed the car and camper. There was even grass around the camper - but if a luxury when you're used to dirt and dust! The manager was lovely and took a shine to issy. She brought her out a home made muffin this morning for our trip. Definately a place to stop again, though the road trains can be a bit noisy at night.
We moved onto mataranka today. Stopped in daly waters pub...
Had a lovely swim in the thermal pool this afternoon. Tomorrow is a slow day so will go for a swim again before heading onto katherine at about lunch time.
