It took two traffic jams, a detour through the countryside (very quaint by the way) and nearly 12 hours on a bus to get from Berlin to Amsterdam. It was a mission. Especially as there was the pub crawl the night before. Most people had a few hours of sleep (if lucky), some had none and a couple were still drunk. Luckily the highway was dead straight so it reduced the possibility of mass nausea.
Not really a lot to say about Ansterdam so far. All I have done since arriving is gone to find food. There are canels everywhere and houseboats hug the edges. People really do cycle everywhere and you have to be careful you dont knock over peoples bikes. They appear to like tulips but I have yet to see a windmill. Tomorrow morning I will riding a bike among the canels and will perhaps see a windmill. I have put in a request for a small bike as I have issues with reaching pedals on big girl bikes.
Oh, and the streets smell like pot. I have passed many 'coffee houses', generally stationed strategically near takeaway food stores-one I saw was next to a kebab shop.
