First things first. I had a proper Radler today. Not the one trademarked in NZ by Monteiths (hehehe). Which went with my Bavariac mac and cheese.
We also had a tour around Berlin and sights associated with the third reich. Our guide was German, had family who were involved in WWII and the SS and she was extremely knowledgeable. Extremely.
We saw a lot. Heard even more. We visited the spot where Hilter's bunker was where he killed himself (its been essentially destroyed and the ground above turned into a carpark-smart really as it avoids certain tupes of people turning it into a site in which to rally).
We visited the Topography of Terror museum located where the Gespato had their headquarters. There was so much information about WWII there and copies of documents from the era it is astounding. It would take days to see it properly.
That night we had a pub crawl around Berlin. Started at a beer garden. The beer then travelled en route to the next bar (you can drink in public there), numerous bars were visited many of which were underground.
Berlin has a good reputation for nightlife probably due to the variety available. Oh, and our guide was from Grey Lynn in Auckland! He moved to Berlin about 6 months prior.
