Arriving into Punta Arenas and making the short walk to the hotel in the town made you realise that you had acquired 'sea legs' as everything seemed a little bit floaty!
Punta Arenas is the End of the World Chilean style and like Ushuaia it does feel remote, in fact there is no road linking Punta Arenas to the rest of Chile as you have to go via Argentina for around 1,000km north to head back into Chile.
Our first stop, after checking into the hotel, was Lomits - a recommendation of Lonely Planet for a cheap filling eat and it did what it said on the tin. A great little place for a filling lunch. The rest of the day was spent wandering around Punta Arenas before finding a back street steam joint for evening meal.
The following day we were headed out to the airport for our flight with Sky Airlines to Santiago de Chile, the nations capital. The flight touched down at a couple of places before finally getting us to Santiago on a rather nice vintage Boeing 737-200.
