After the Monday morning dash to the airport in Santiago de Chile we had a few hours to make the most of at the airport before flying down to Punta Arenas . . . so it was a bit of plane spotting for an hour or so after having lunch before the four and a half hour journey to the south of Chile which included a 45 minute stop at Puerto Montt. Arriving into Punta Arenas and making the short walk to the hotel in the town made you realise that you had acquired 'sea legs' as everything seemed a little bit floaty! Punta Arenas is the End of the World Chilean style and like Ushuaia it does feel remote, in fact there is no road linking Punta Arenas to the rest of Chile as you have to go via Argentina for around 1,000km north to head back into Chile.
