So today was not only the last full day of our whistle stop tour of France but also we said goodbye to the MGs new friends as they wound their way in convoy back up to St Malo. It had been great fun to spend time with the owners of these beautiful cars and we are tempted to join them on their next trip- if we were invited as our car is definately from a younger generation. Anyway having bid farewell we decided to go off and see a Chateau at Breze. It was quite incredible with as much underground as overground - so we went wombling around it!
After lunch we popped into the town of Fontevraud with its square which was very reminiscent of Allo Allo. We stopped to look into the shop of an Artisan Enluminar who creates the most beautiful pictures using traditional methods by making stencils and then dusting the colours on top. It was incredible to see and worth visiting the town just to see him.
Our last supper we went into St Peters Sqaure in Saumur which was buzzing with people on a Saturday night. We were very impressed with ourselves when we managed to order a bottle of wine that wasn't on the wine list from a wine maker we had visited yesterday - and even more impressed when the right wine turned up on the table (Smug feeling!)
Off to Cherbourg and then home tomorrow - will we have to have the roof on the car? - in 2 weeks it has been only been up for 5 minutes when driving.
