So having left the ultra quiet village of Condrieu we now find ourselves in the WIne capital of Burgundy -Beaune. It is an amazing place with apparently miles of underground tunnels and above ground some incredibly beautiful old buildings including the famous Hospice with its criss cross patterns on the roof.
Our journey to get here was a couple of hours so we decided to stop off at a small town on route - Tournus. Little did we know that this town was dominated by a beautiful Abbey St Philbert which marked the place where St Valarin was martyred in the second century. It was a real jem and a beautiful spiritual space which obviously was still very alive, a lovely spot to find ourselves on a Sunday.
So the choice of tonights meal is going to be a bit of a struggle - all the menus seem to have Escargots- or snails on the menu as well as tripe! Think we may have a chinese- just kidding!!
