Hey,
Well here's a great update for y'all (loving the southern american accent right now).
A huge storm passed through Atlanta while we were in the airport, like nothing I had ever seen before. HUGE crashes of thunder and sheet lightning all over the sky, lighting it up purple and white. Forks of lightning struck the earth and the rain was absolutely torrential, but after about an hour it passed.
Me and Gemma had been sat in the airport for about... 10 hours, give or take, and we were sat at the gate waiting for the flight to Bogota. We are fairly chilled when a small announcement comes up over the tannoy.
- "The flight from Atlanta to Bogota has been cancelled. We'll see what we can do"
We just turned at looked at each other like... did we really just hear that? Is the delirium setting in? We did.
With a mixture of exhaustion, desperation, and a delirious state of fatigue, we approached the desk. The guy who spoke to us was very unhelpful and rude, as though it was our fault, but eventually we managed to sort out flights.
We got 2 $6 vouchers for our meals and got put on a flight to JFK at 12.50pm the next day. Then we got put into the Windsor hotel. With that, he was gone, leaving us to call other AIESECers for advice. It was a bit frantic.
We managed to find a travel bag and then eventually headed to the transfer place to hotels. It was a nightmare to find it. It was so muggy when we got outside and that was made worse by the sheer amount of people who seemed to all have cancelled flights.
We managed to find the bus (the hotels name was different to the one given) and got on board. The driver told us all about how he was expecting his new baby and how excited he was. It was a surreal journey as I realised we were in AMERICA. We passed a waffle house and the road signs were all different and exciting.
We arrived at the hotel and it was a bit chaotic but we finally managed it and got a room. Two lovely double beds, and despite the decor it was well equipped for us. :)

At breakfast (still free) we had a choice of multi-coloured fruit loops, waffles, dougnuts, toast and coffee. It was a bit bizzare. I settled for toast and an apple. After heading to the airport in the sunshine we checked in (after 45 minutes of sorting the tickets) and realised that we are in FIRST CLASS! Yeahhhh. I've never beeen in first class before so this should be exciting. We also got $50 to spend in the airport. :)
Anyway, It's time to board the flight to JFK new york now. Here we go.
