I feel like i live in an airport.
So basically I've been up since 2am this morning. I had two hours sleep. Not too bad you say? Filter in the 5 hour time difference. It should be like... half 9 back at home but here its half 4. I'm currently looking out onto loads of planes. Atlanta is such a big airport - we'll come to how I know that later.
I left everyone at heathrow and made my way into the security thing. I had a bit of a wobble as I realised I wasn't going to see them for ages and that I was well and truly on my own. However, I sorted myself out and headed into the airport. After a few sketchy attempts at connecting to the internet, I gave up and waited to get on the flight. It was at the gate that I realised I was surrounded by americans. The accent is so strange, so southern, like something out of True Blood. On the flight I sat next to a guy who didn't seem like much of a talker. I decided to get some sleep (with the complimentary blanket and pillow). The flight was a bit bumpy at times but the staff were brilliant. I've never been on a Delta Airlines flight before but they were great. I got free drinks and a pizza and ice cream, as well as films and tv on demand. It was so good.
When I got off the plane, that was the confusing bit... I somehow ended up in the wrong place and I'm still not sure how. I couldn't find my bags and I thought I was going to cry. Such a drama queen, I know. A lovely guy ( who I wasn't sure whether they worked here due to their gangsta style of dress) actually did work there and helped me out by taking me back to the start and putting me on a trolley with a friendly old guy who had the best southern drawl I've ever heard. He was very chatty and eventually I managed to get my bags and re-check in. I even went through the body scanners at US security. It was so weird. It's like being in a sci-fi movie.
I'm currently sat in terminal E watching all the planes outside. My flight is at midnight so I've got a long wait. At least gemma is here with me :)
