Day 2 in Rome and today we decided to tackle the beastly task of walking around the roman forum/ colloseum area.
To say I didn't think the roman forum was so big was an understatement. Soooooo much walking!!!!
But it was all worth it.
The area is absolutely beautiful with glimpses of ancient Rome at every turn.
The forum itself is stunning and walking up onto palatine hill and see over the forum, with the coloseum in the background was just so surreal!!!
We then went to the coloseum which was just so stunning!!!!! Seeing crumbled steps where the large groups of Romans would flock into the coloseum was just as amazing as I thought it would be. We climbed to the top of the coloseum and then had our lunch overlooking the main area below. Perfect.
After an hour and a half in the coloseum and over 2 hours in the forum, we still weren't finished so we walked back on ourselves to find even more ancient ruins just popping up randomly around the street.
After so much walking we needed a gelato and somewhere to just relax so we caught a metro back to spagna.
We bought a gelato, and got chatted up by the waiter in the process which was uncomfortable yet funny, and then headed to the Spanish steps to enjoy our gelatos on peace.
Today we saw loads of weddings taking place, many of which took place as we sat on the steps which was just beautiful to witness, with the while crowds on the Spanish steps (it was veeeeery busy!) cheering them on.
So sweet.
All in all a perfect day in Rome once more!!
Tommorow we are going to trastevere, San Lorenzo and wrapping up but watching the artist on a big screen on the banks of isola tiberina.
Can't wait!!!!! XD
