Day 4: 19/03/08
We both woke on our fourth day in our different surroundings in serious need of having no sun hit our skin and plent of moistureiser, due to the last couple of days of us taking advantage of the beach and not wearing enough sun screen, so we decidied to have a day out of the sun and give our bodys the chance to go from bright red (looking obviously like tourist) to a slighter warmer brown making us look like more established travellers.
Because we stayed out of the sun we decided to book our trip to machu pichu so we had it all sorted when we got to Cusco, we went through a tour company called axel tours and at the time we thought we got a better deal but thats for a later blog entry,
We also booked our bus down to Cusco which was via a company called Cruz Del Sur, a specilist in long bus journey´s and for 15 soles more (3 pounds) we got the executive seats with more space and comfort.
so with the next weeks activites booked we sat down in the TV room where we chatted with a couple guys called Steve from Leeds and Armand from South Africa and watched saving private ryan, i know, i know we didn´t come all the way to south america just to watch english films, but it was quite enjoyable to understand something fully and then chat about it with other people.
But like most things we have done so far, this one activity led us into another one, this time being ping pong, and i am proud to say i am underfeated in south america (thank god for that table i have at home), after a round robin, me and rick were proud to say that we came first and second keeping the british fighting spirit alive.
Then after meeting a couple more people this young english lad called Will, who was quite a innocent traveller and a norweign stundent called Ola we carried on playing ping pong and mine and ricks success carried on.
After a couple of beers and a bit on dinner, we then managed to turn ping pong into a drinking competition, called ´´Beer Pong¨´
Now the game is very simple, you play doubles ping pong with a chomp (3/4 pint glass) of beer in each players section.
The rules are; - If you miss a shot or foul you have to drink
- If you hit the other players glass they have to drink
- If you land your ball in their glass they have to drink the whole drink
- If you knock over your drink then you have to buy everyone playing a drink
So you can imagine after a couple of goes you are starting to make more mistakes, and even though the actually likely hood of a glass being knocked over or you hitting the ball in someone drink is very small but within the first hour the really innocent and not very experince english lad Will knocked over his drink, so we all got a free beer, then Steve managed to hit his ball in Ola´s drink making him down his drink, so the laughter was roaring out and all this did was make us drink more and soon we were attarcting quite a crowd and a game that started off with 6 players had at its max 17 playerrs all wanting to play, making the evening a memorable one, and don´t worry when i get the table out in the summer, we will be playing this game, you have been warned
