Day 3:
Buenos dias (good day) following on from the previous blog, we had a very fun night out for St Paddy´s day, it was quite nice because it bought back alot of memories from home and previous st paddy´s nights, the highlight for me (gareth) was when they asked me to take part in a drinking competition and if you knowm me well enough, you also know i can´t down drinks to save my life, and it was a knock out competiton and i lost in the first round, to a peruivian half my size (which didn´t impress rick or the girls we were with), but my dad´s always said it´s the taking part that counts, but all this fun led to a very slow morning the next day.
We had arranged the night before to meet up with the girls again on the beach, so after a slow start we walked down the the beach and enjoyed a couple of beers at the same bar we had been yesterday, so the bar men was very friendly and kept the beer flowing, so we stayed a little longer than orginially thought, but this was to our benifit because it meant we got to watch our first sunset, so we walked up a stoney and dangerous path next to road where the local drivers won´t stop if you were in the road and the local taxi drivers continously beep their horns in hope you use their service.
So we walked for about 20 minutes with a lot of beer in our legs which made the roads steeper and longer, then the fours of us watched a sunset never seen before due to the weather and crappy climate in england, so with out a cloud in the sky, the sun shining off every rock and the sky was filled with warm colours (see picture attached) all making for a truely unique experince as the sun slowly dissappeared. Then after saying goodbye to the girls we started strolling back to our hostal, and this was the first time we both felt aware of where we were, now the sun had gone down the place was very dark and we had to pick our way down the stoney track again, and we spent most of the walk back checking for our wallets, camera and generally ourselves, but we did make it back and we survived our first local test and spent the rest of the night playing pool, drinking beer then onto the rum till the early hours, chatting with others in the bar and listening to a selction of everyone´s music till we didn´t want anymore beer and found our single bunk beds to prepare ourselves for the next day of events.
