HI All,

After a rather long flight and not much sleep, we arrived in Beijing about mid-day yesterday. We had a crazy taxi journey from the airport- the driving here is a little different (!!), weaving in and out of 8 lanes of traffic! The hostel is pleasant, it's clean and air conditioned which is good because it's 33c outside!

We're staying within a stones throw from Tianamen square and the forbidden city so we went for a wander and saw the changing of the guards, got a KFC and some munchies then headed back to the hostel for a nap! Shopping is proving complicated as there is very little English translation so it's pot luck what we get most of the time!

Tomorrow we're going to go mooch around a bit more - we've now got an English map so we stand a better chance!!
