Had to say bye the the children and the other volunteers, lots of long, strong hugs. Hugo who has been teaching me Spanish also came to see me off. Had a little tear in the taxi.
Arrived at the airport to check my bag in.....they stole my nailvarnish remover.
Then was introduced to a plain clothed police officer and had to go to a side room where there were handcuffs on the table...it was a bit scary.
They basically unpacked my bag and then threw everything (that I had actually packed neatly and logically) back......thanks. They were quite nice though.
During being questioned it transpired that the Spanish word for cocaine if very similar to the verb "to cook" . . . Very strange conversation in Spanglish, guess it all adds to the experience though.
Having a quick cuppa (I wonder if they will have normal tea in nz? I am missing it a fair bit) then on to my gate to fly to Lima.
Over and out
