Bob dylan, kings of leon, the pixies; the soundtrack to our 1hr30min journey to the Grand Canyon, what more could you want!Maybe eventually getting out the van, covering your eyes, and walking to the very edge of the grand canyon!Yep, thats what we did and the view just hits you and takes your breath away. Its pretty indescribable but you just stand there in awe and can't stop taking pictures! We spent 40mins taking in the views at various levels at the south rim and then got in the mini-bus and our lovely american tour guide dude drove fi and i, plus a mancunian, a german, an american, an aussie and lots of japanese to our next stop, a large limestone peak where we sat and ate lunch and got a little talk about how the canyon formed, having alot of fun so far! We then got in the van and drove a little further down, all the while taking in the canyon from various different points of view in the van. We pulled up the kaibab trail which is 25 miles long. We were not going to do the full 25miles!We walked down to a point called 'ooh aah' point, approx 2miles down, the walk was steep but the weather and views were amazing. The walk up wasnt that much fun but we got there in the end!Took tons more piccies of a place that just cannot be captured properly on film! But yeh so the hike was pretty wicked, just to be able to say you have been in the canyon and actually sat on rock ledges leaning out into it. We then drove along the canyon to another spot for drinks and another view, this time including a better view of the colorado river. We then drove to another spot ofering a beauitful view of the river and then off into the desert. Then the drive home where we drove through Navajo native american country. This land is mostly desert and also the little colorado river with a smaller canyon of its own. This is a reservation for the navajo and stretches for miles and miles and actually houses over 300,000 native americans. This was sunset time so it was very nice. So yep,a pretty knackering but AMAZING day!just something you have to do in your lifetime!xx
