Our final day at Byron Bay. We have really enjoyed our short stay here and allowed us to take time to recharge our batteries after the frenetic first few weeks.
The b&b, Burns at Byron (www.burnsatbyron.com.au) has also been a great place to stay with Hilary making it seem more like a home than an accommodation.
Today I actually made the beach in the MORNING starting with a long walk past the wreck to the beach houses and back. There were a number of what we took to be jellyfish (clear blobs of gelatinous material) and also an obvious part of another blue/green blob of material so we were careful to look where we stepped. In all Nicola must have made me walk a couple of km in the hot midday sun.
The swim that followed was similar to the previous days but this time Nicola managed to make her way through the surf to the relatively calmer water further out and was able to enjoy a swim bobbing up and down in the swell
I then endured the sunbathing session for all of 30 minutes before calling time. It's not something I am comfortable with and am terrified of crisping my nipples so I was careful to keep my hands on my chest when lying on my back. I will look very odd if the tan gets stronger!
A leisurely lunch at Chez Burns was followed by completing the final blogs so we could get totally upto date whilst we had access to good WiFi.
We have met a number of interesting people during the stay.
Following our final fish and chips at Fish Mongers (note to Pete and Sybil, when we find something we like we stick with it!) we had a drink and chat with two fellow guests Carlo and Tishani. Both are freelance writers who have travelled extensively. Tishani comes from ??? and was able to give Nicola some helpful tips for places to see in Kerula (India) where she is going next year with Sally to see Sophie.
Bags were packed ready for a start at 06:00 after we have heard the dawn chorus for the final time!
