Heidi in Ciudad Juarez
Wow, what a whirlwind of a week once again! I have been living and teaching in Ciudad Juarez for the past four days, and the Lord is GOOD! The first couple of days, admittedly, I was a little stressed, and got back into the mindset of an American teacher--standards, lesson plans, manipulatives, all this STUFF that can be good, but not if it takes me away from developing relationships in the Lord with people here. So I've been getting some encouragement to be at peace with the fact that teaching a foreign language is hard, and that's not the primary reason I am here. The reason I am here is to love children in the name of Jesus Christ and to be one of God's ambassadors in this community. Please pray that I don't lose sight of that fact!
Please also pray for boldness for me, that as I get more used to living here I also become more apt to step out of my comfort zone, visit with people here in my broken Spanish, and most importantly, share about the Lord!
Though teaching English to a bunch of little kids in Mexico is hard work, I have really been enjoying it. These children are SO precious and pictures of them are soon to come. Most of them (not all) are so eager to learn, so excited when I come in their classrooms to teach, and I've even heard rumors that they are speaking the few English words I've taught them all the time outside of class! Praise God! As long as they know I love them and Jesus does, everything els will fall into place.
I think I've uploaded some pictures of my first few days here and where I'm living, so check them out. I hope you all are well. PRAISE GOD!
