Hello everyone.....
So we have been on the mainland for about 10 days now. Slowly working our way up the coast through Bangkok and are now in a place called Pattaya, (a little bit smutty). We are on the move most days, getting up early and getting a train or a bus to the next town. Have been to some lovely little towns, proper Thailand, no westerners in sight, which has been lovely and a lot cheaper. My Thai is coming along nicely, i can now ask for my favourite meal (papaya salad) and ask for it to be not spicy as they literally blow your head off.
We have been up to a couple of monkey temples, which are as the name suggests teaming with monkeys, they can be a bit territorial so I think i'm going to steer clear from now on. We have been to countless temples/caves shrines, which are absolutely beautiful, really good to see/learn about the buddhist religion and see the monks walking around everywhere.
We also went to a beautiful national park in the middle of no where, i'll put up some pictures of the beach there, its was breathtaking and completely empty!
The other day we rented out bicycles and went to see the River Kwai bridge. I'm a massive fan of WW2 history so that was really good to see. We went to the museums and to the cemetrys, very sad. The bridge itself is still a working railway bridge and has been restored as part of it was destroyed near the end of the war. I will be putting some pictures up in the next week hopefully, so stay tuned.
I think thats all for now really. We have lost a few team members so are now 7, its my friend Alice's birthday on the 22nd, so we will be staying here for that and then moving on towards Cambodia, where the real travelling starts!
Hope you are all well, missing everyone. Lots of love x
