Thursday 6th August was spent on some domestic duties (washing, sweeping and generally tidying up). We then travelled to the town of Vallo and did some shopping at the supermarket which was very interesting. Lots of interesting fruit, meat and seafood on display, also lots of wine on offer. I restrained myself quite well but could have gone crazy and filled the trolley. It was a very hot day, mid thirties so the car AC was very welcome.
After we got back to the villetta we had some lunch and a siesta. It was really hot and not conducive to sleeping but I did doze off to be wakened by the loudest thunder I've ever heard. The "tropea" (storm) went on for many hours well into the night and we had quite a display of lightening.
I cooked spaghetti and meatballs and as it was too wet to go out I managed to put together a tasty meal using herbs from the pantry and a bottle of Sam's tomato sauce. We thoroughly enjoyed it and there wasn't much left. We had just cleaned up and sat down for a while and the power went out. It was off for around 15 minutes. Luckily I have a couple of small torches in my luggage which came in handy. Then off to bed and slept well. It is very quiet here so very easy to sleep.
