Wow, what an adventure!
So i got to Chiang Mai and met a german girl called francesca, we became friends quickly and rented Bicycles around the town, Motorbikes up to tiger kingdom where i got to stroke and touch tigers which was cool. We also met so many amazing people in that one week in Chiang Mai, there is so much to do, it was so much fun! I saw a cabaret show (ladyboys dancing) and spent a day looking after elephants; feeding them, riding bare back, washing them and swimming with them and the baby ellie in the waterfall :)
I had a few nights out but not many, one was such a shock as Francesca no idea how wild the locals can be until we went round this corner and all of a sudden the quite streets of Chiang Mai turned into wild party haven with 4-6 clubs side by side and different music in each- all werew open plan and so you could just jump from one place to another!
Francesca sadly left for home but fortunatly it meant i got an empty dorm all too myself now i was feeling quite ill. a quite night in and space was much appreciated, i got so over heated and sick feeling but it soon passed thank god!
From word of mouth i soon heard about a place called Pai...further north of Thailand....this is my favourate place of all time.
Its small enough to walk around the main town, quiet enough to hire motorbikes with no worries and the night life and people are amazing!!
I may have over spent here but it was amazing and i slept in the most unusuall places ever! The hostel called 'spicyPai' was pretty much where all the lone travellers head to and with a 26 person dorm made out of banna leaves and hammocks / wooden bunk beds , i stayed for 4 nights, met the most awesome people ever! i thought travelling alone i would miss out on things like your friends having your back at times but its not true, everyone is in the same boat and wants the same thing and so i was fortunate to have people looking out for me and vice versa. We soon enough formedc a family of maybe 10-15 of us and went out for food and drinks. It was this first night out in Pai that stole my heart. Drinking buckets with a great american friend of mine, Matt, he soon enough had me wanting to sing up on stage and so...with alcohol confidence i got up and sung. The place was filled with maybe 80-100 backpackers/locals. all of which knew the words , the whole place was singing along and then my friends came up on stage to dance and this girl started to rap inbetween , just thinking back to the roars i heard once i finished singing and the next day , walking around Pai and having strangers come up to me and shake my hands in congrats or hi five me and call me a legend haha it makes me feel like i could explode from my happiness. That day has got to be the day i realised i had a talent and that makes me feel so so happy, i want to do this every day :) i want to come back to England and sing :) i cant stop smiling even now, im sat looking like a weirdo in an internet cafe getting odd looks...oh well :)
After Pai was the border crossing, which i did with two guys i met in Chiang Mai, Mark and Gibby (Andrew.) I met them on the way to the border, Mark came with me from Pai but gibby we picked up in Chiang Rai where we all stopped for a night and saw an amazing snowy white temple - i will post pictures soon :)
Most people head straight to luoang prabang in Laos from Pai or Chiang Mai but we all wanted to go somewhere secluded, less touristy and so we ventured to a place called Nong kiewl - passing through Luang Namtha on the way and eventualy arriving at this secluded island in a valley between two beautiful hills. Mong Noi this place was called. We had to get a tiny long boat there and it was so scenic it took my breath away :) I spent a day lying in a hammock over looking the lake and playing ball with the locals :)
I then left the boys and headed to luangprabang on my own , this place is cool, i got to teach english too some students (monks) for two hours at a school and saw the most stunning clear blue waterfall ive ever seen! Crystal clear the waters were, i felt like i was in a movie, you could swim in the multiple pools and its here that i met a french guy called charles and 3 israelis;, a guy called Tommy and 2 girls called the same name- seannie (i think thats how you spell it!) That was fun because after we all went to the night market together and grabbed a buffet for 10,000 kip (about 80p) yum! We then had a few nights of drinking, i got taught a bit of guitar and then headed to vang viene
In vangviene i did tubing of course!! although there are not many of the bars open anymore i had fun playing drinking games and fire limbo, later going to a bar and then a club! everyone again formed like a family and so there was a biig group of us all having a laugh (its hard to leave places liike this!)
I also went to the blue lagoon here which was fun and saw a big cave in the hills. I watched a storm with some girls i met there while we were playijng cards after food, it was incredible!
After much fun in these party places , ive just left and am currently in Veinteine where i just bought myself a guitar....36 pounds and its both accoustic/electreic, stunning thing with all the cables and a case! Bargain! ...well , a long term investment here, hopefulyy i will stay in and learn from someone instead of spending money drinking! :) i look forward to learning, ive always wanted to so why not now?! give me a year and i'll show you what i can do ;)
Bad things so far- i almost got attacked by three dogs in the streets of luoang prabang as it started tpo get dark while i was on my own but screamed enough and yelled help loud enough for a local to come save me (embarrassing) Got disrespected in a bar so i defended myself from this guy and all the western backpacker guys with girlfriends who i knew came to help me, my friend got arrested and had to pay 3 million kip (around 250 pounds) for passport back the next day but hey, i wasnt silly enough to get involved! I ran out of petrol on my scooter in the middle of nowhere in the mountains when sight seeing with a friend for a day and had to start using a plastic tuvbe from a pen i found in my bag to suck the petrol from, his tank into mine...until a local came and saved us, showing my friend where he could drive to buy petrol from and put into my tank - phew! After the blue lagooon with the girls, we got into our tuk tuk and a massive spider the size of my hand was in the corner of the truck and we had to scream so loud for the driver to stop, all huddled in one corner of the tuk tuk trying to stray clear, the local hit the spider with a screwq driver before we managed to exit and so as it scurried around the tuk tuk we jumped as a four together around the tuk tuk too, trying to escape, never have 4 girls moved so fast in such a confined space haha
so much drama and yet again another long blog but its surprising how little time i have alone here and so i have not managed to update you as i go but hey, one month down - 11 to go! miss you all. i think about England on my journeys to places and think about how exciting i am going to be to see you all when i get back and how different things will be, how different i will be...im getting more of a backbone i think, which is good but hey! i still managed to get 40 pounds nicked from me! im slowly learning!
Anyway, im off to the 4000 islands tonight, a sleeping bus (i arrive tomorrow at 9am ish) which im worried about because they all drive like nutters! I will email you mum tomorrow once i've arrived! lol! love to you all! xxx
