Finally arrived at Don det (4000 islands) and who should i bump into on the quiet and chilled island? several different people/groups i had already met along the way! i also bumped into a girl who sadly i forgot her name but she was tiny and made of steal. not sure what i would have done without her , the first night i met her, she saved me big time and never will i forget it! Izzy was there too,..a girl i met at the same time. at this point, izzy was just another backpacker i had met and was happy to see in a new place. we ended up travelling nearly 2 months together.
Don Det was cool, met funny german guys and izzy so we all went on a kayaking trip with about 30 more backpackers (charlie, dan, sean, anne, tough tiny girl all there) - all on the same island - so we got to know a lot of people- and saw rare river dolphins, stopping off at this bar in cambodia - was cool to border cross that way hha we all tried our first local cambodian beer and headed back- stopping off at South East Asia's largest waterfall.
after Don Det,was the border crossing onto the next country - cambodia. Found out izzy wanted to go to the same place next and leave her tour bus group thingy as she felt like she was on a school trip and just wing it with me. we got along well, if ever i met anyone who could party , it was izzy. 12 hour long nights were a regular. the stories are fantastic! ......back to the border crossing...cambodia cossing is beyond corrupt. after having passports taken without our say, told to pay more than the rest, yelled at and treated like dirt. our bus full of backpackers was more than releived to have escaped the mad man that took us there. of which we had to spend even longer with because our bus broke down on the way! never felt so angry before.
ahh well. Welcome cambodia. probably the place i have some of the most exhillarating stories, very scary but im alive and well so a great story they each make for sure.
