The flight to Dublin from Heathrow took 1.30 hours but really half of it was spent on the Tarmac at Heathrow and only 55mins was actually spent in the air
Middle aged man sitting next to Emily fiddling with his.....phone and sighing a lot, thought he was annoyed at us but then realized how on earth could anyone be annoyed at us and put it down to him being a nervous flyer.
Our introduction to Ireland was a hilarious Customs lady waving us in like we were annoying little children after a reallly long day.
Bussed it into Dublin after picking up a small bottle of baileys and checked in to Abigail's hostel. Had a room to ourselves, had a quick relaxing drink before heading out to grab some food and check out the Irish pub life.
A quiet Guinness at o'neills pub lead to an amazing front table for a live Irish band of 3, guitarist and singer, girl accordion /drummer (aka foot tapper), and the banjo player guy who looked just like an Irish version of Jared, Corey's best man.
This live Irish band was awesome. Played ps I loved you songs, long road to Tipperary and got the whole pub involved. Pretty sure the girl must have had better places to be, she looked a bit peeved to be there, didn't like the complements we gave on her amazing playing and mocked 'jared' when he flirted with everyone.
He found out we werent from around there and offered to show us the nightlife in dublin, so we saw the best pubs the best bands and we ended up meeting dublins entire musician society. Amazingly hospitable people who looked after us and showed us the brilliance of Dublin on a Sunday night. Learnt a few terms, i.e Gamey. Amazing term, plan to use it so keep an ear out for its correct use in a sentence slash life. Weirdest thing of the evening for me was meeting an Irish guy who looked exactly like my uncle roger.
We met an overly friendly and slightly awkward Swiss man who annoyed us on the bus and then creepily bumped into us at the Guinness factory the next day, pretty sure he was stalking us.
Emily has decided that going to the guineas factory changed her taste buds and has made her like guinness now.
She also mentioned that after the 3rd of 4th on Sunday night they tasted better and better. Lol I wonder why.
Emily got told off for calling a pint of Guinness and glass of beer. Rightfully so.
Met an Irish girl who lived in Hamilton for a year and dated the brother of a girl I went to school with. Small small world.
Attempted to have indian for dinner at 4am along with the rest of Dublin apparently but the owner stated they were no longer taking customers so they could shut up. Lol why not just make it 24 hour. Amazing the number of people eating at 4am.
Saw the beginnings of the sunrise from the pretty Dublin bridges.
Twas a late night home and an early start to fit everything in. Gah not a happy Hayley next morning. I was struggling.
Visited the book of Kells which was beautiful! So old and amazing. Couldn't quite take in all the reading about the actual book of Kells but the amazing old library was mind blowing.
Then missioned it by foot to the Guinness factory to be educated on the history makings and tastings.
The guinness factory completely outdid my expectations. It was a giant giant factory completely re set up for a fun yet educational tourist attraction. In my mind the only thing I could compare it to was being like Willy wonkas chocolate factory but Guinness.
Started the experience with a choir singing us into the building, had a shepards pie for lunch and ended it with a free Guinness up top in the roof top bar which just so happens to have the best 360degree view of Dublin.
Walked our way back to the hostel to pick up our bags and taxi to our rental car. Had a super nice taxi driver who continued the Irish hospitality theme.
Were introduced to our little blue nissan rental car and begun the drive to Galway via clonmacnoise.
