Hi
We have survived a week! Really started to settle into Dally life. We work every evening from 5pm and shut between 10pm and 12pm - we each have one night off a week. At first we didn't enjoy working at all - the pub was often dead quiet and we didn't know any of the locals. Then news got around that new barmaids were in town! Now after working the weekend we know most of the locals and have met a surprising number of people our age so we are actually quiet enjoying working. Had a few late nights over the weekend because we went to a few 'parties' after work which were so funny. Friday probably was one of the best nights out we have had in Oz yet!
Working behind the bar is pretty easy know we have got to grips with all the beers, largers and ales and its not pints but middies! The hardest bit is trying to look busy (Denis likes to see we are working) even when there is nothing to do!
All the locals are very chatty and interested to know our Australian story - feels a bit like a broken reocrd repeating it over and over again, but getting lots of tips about where to visit and when. Get a lot of passing trade too - often road train drivers stop in the motel overnight.
Weather is still clear and sunny everyday although the temperature has dropped to the low 30oC's which makes a refreshing change.
Lydia's last week with us this week which is a bit sad - hopefully we will continue to be as good as the end of this week.
Hope all is well and good at home, and you haven't had any more earthquakes.
Love Hayley and Rose x
