Okay not done a blog for a while so thought i'd give an update on our new life (for now) in Whistler Canada BC. The whole town was buzzing with excitement waiting for the mountain to open in the weeks leading up the the big week. Everyone was scurrying around buying hats, pants, coats, helmets, snow snoes etc. Then it dumped it down with thick big snow and they opened a week early yey! Only a few runs were open but it was enough to keep everyone happy. My job at Dominoes is perfect! At the moment i'm just doing rush shifts about 4 or 5 days a week for 4 hours in the evening. Exactly what i wanted. When i'm fully trained which should be any time now my wage goes from $9 an hour to $10 an hour and I will start doing day shifts on my own. That should only be one day a week though so still 6 days of free snowboarding time! I feel sorry for Mike though working full time. Our weekend now is Monday (friday night) Tuesday and Wednesday are our Saturday and Sunday. There are so many people looking for work its unbelievable even the Whistler community are shocked. Not sure there is enough work for all the people applying. We should count ourselves lucky we have got jobs. Mikes on a good wage at $13 an hour which I think goes up to $15 in the season.I'm heading to Vancouver on Saturday to do a food safe course. Its costing me $40 plus petrol. Well I gotta go - i'm heading up the mountain with Danielle from work. Its dumping down with snow - wish mike was coming with me I hate getting the chair lifts on my own! Better watch out for frostbite too. Everyone is talking about it and there are warning signs everywhere. Mike bought me a balaclava to cover my hole face from the icy wind. It was -26 the other day without windchill. Prob -30 odd with the wind! Ouch! bit warmer now though a refrshing -9!
Speak to you soon peeps
