Today we explored our city Okayama. This is a really lovely city with everything you could want. We could not feel more welcome with everyone smiling and saying 'konnichiwa' to us just walking along the street. When being served at a till the staff bow and are so friendly. I love the Japanese. We walked along the canal near our hotel then to Okayama castle. The castle looks impressive but is actually a rebuild as unfortunately many were destroyed when the government could not afford to maintain them. The area around the castle was quiet and peaceful so we sat and enjoyed our lunch (more sushi and bento from the mall). We then visited the neighbouring Korakuen Garden which was beautiful and had a crane aviary as well as a lovely iris garden (see photo). Seems there is live music along the canal tonight as part of golden week so just having a rest before we go out again!
The canal was amazing with candles lining the walk way. We were able to get a drink and walk along by candle light listening to live music. We then went to Gindacos for balls which I had seen everywhere and something else a random Japanese man suggested. Turns out we had Takoyaki and Taiyaki it was yummy.

Glenn Carter From the video yesterday it is easy to see why they call the fast train the "Bullet Train". The scenery in the photos today look stunning and I love the houses with the overhanging roofs. Japan looks like a tourists dream. Love to both. M&D.
